Well, after my last post I promised myself I would do at least 3 posts a month, it didn’t quite work out that well, but who could blame me with the summer we’ve had!?!?!?
First of all, the games, probably the most amazing, inspiring, humbling event I have ever witnessed. I was lucky enough to get tickets for 3 olympic events, men’s football, women’s volleyball and women’s football. The atmosphere was incredible, I get goosebumps just thinking about it. I also had tickets to the paralympics. WOW… what more could I say…
I managed to see 7-a-side football, wheelchair rugby and spend an evening in the olympic stadium.
One of the most amazing parts of the games were the volunteers, they were brilliant! They were so enthusiastic and helpful, no matter what job they were doing, but possibly the best volunteering job ever was for these guys….
These guys got to drive a remote control car all night!! The idea was that after a discus was thrown they would drive the car up to the official to put the discus in so it could be driven back to the next thrower, GENIUS! And, in true sporting style, they did a proper warm up before all the action started and just razzed the cars around for half an hour. This is definitely to BEST job in the world, ever, FACT.
I’ve also had a few little holidays too, a couple of days in the sun relaxing, a few days in Devon chilling and couple of days in Edinburgh drinking and laughing.
It’s about to rain in Devon, again…
In between all the sport (more watching than playing), sunshine and showers I have done a little bit of crafting too.
I tried a little bit of sunography. If you’ve never seen this before the idea is that the fabric is treated with a chemical that reacts to sunlight and changes colour. So, if you cast a shadow over the fabric, it will leave the pattern. I’d been waiting to try this for ages then finally got myself organised to have a go. I spent ages deciding how I wanted to arrange the sprigs and finally was ready to get the fabric out. I had everything set up and only had to wait 10 minutes for it to develop, then, the only cloud in the whole sky positioned itself directly between the sun and my mini sunography studio!!! I left everything set up for as long as I could without getting too impatient, but it wasn’t long enough, so no pattern, but I have a few more to try on the next sunny day! It’s a shame because it would have been quite a cool pattern.
I have also finished my first ever knitted jacket!! It’s has taken me nearly three months to finish, mostly because I haven’t had five minutes to sit down in the last few months. But now it’s done and I am so pleased with the results. It’s being beautifully modelled by my favourite little person, it’s still a little bit too big, but should fit by christmas.
It’s a duffle coat pattern from this Debble Bliss book. I love it! It did take quite a long time though, longer than I thought, but I did learn a lot about constructing knitted clothes so I’m quite excited about my next project.
I’ve got a lot of ideas for my next few projects and I need to get cracking if anyone is going to get a Christmas present this year. I’ll keep you posted with how I’m getting on.
